Josh Jenkins is a Southern Gospel musician from Morristown, TN. Josh has been playing music for over 10 years! He started out playing drums and after a short while moved on to bass guitar, acoustic and electric guitar and piano. In his early years, Josh usually spent around 4-5 hours a day practicing each instrument, with piano eventually becoming his most fluent instrument. Josh has been very fortunate to play for some of Southern Gospel’s best artists including Cross4Crowns, Bob Jenkins, Justin Terry, JourneyOn, Downin Lane, The Old Time Preachers Quartet, as well as many others. Josh has been a member of First Baptist Church of Morristown for over 11 years where he has been a utility musician for all Sunday services. As of December 25th, 2016, Josh has officially become the staff pianist at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Morristown. For the past few years, Josh has been acquiring pieces of recording equipment to furnish his own home recording studio, Center Cross Studios. He often makes soundtracks for church events and personal requests, as well as having produced 2 albums for himself and other groups. Josh was born on July 1st, 1997 in Knoxville, TN to his parents, Bob and Shirl Jenkins. After a year in Knoxville, Josh and his family moved to Talbott, TN where His dad became the Music Minister at Talbott Baptist Church. Josh was saved at the age of 7 after reading a story about a girl named Anne, who attended a crusade led by Billy Sunday, got saved. He realized his need for a Savior and asked his dad to help him get saved. After a fairly normal life in Tennessee, Josh and his family moved to Florida to take care of his grandmother. After a year there, Josh and his family moved back Tennessee where he’s been ever since! However, in 2015, Josh’s life turned upside down. His mom died of a sudden heart attack on March 30th, 2015. He and his dad lived together for the next 4 years. Unfortunately, his dad was diagnosed with a terminal lung disease called pulmonary fibrosis in August of 2016. After many years as bachelors, his dad remarried in April of 2017. After a very short fight with his disease, Josh’s dad died on August 29th, 2017. Josh currently resides in Morristown by himself working as the staff pianist and media director of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
